Late last week, the Northwest Indiana Green Building Alliance held a free seminar highlighting HVAC systems and radiant barriers, as well as renewable energy options. At the seminar, Jim Kouns of Home Insulation Kits gave a presentation that focused on the applications and efficiencies of reflective insulation and radiant barriers.
Kouns cited a chart depicting energy consumption in residential buildings created by the Department of Energy. He then went on to discuss how reflective insulation and radiant barriers can help control radiant heat loss or gain in numerous residential applications. The applications Kouns touched on most were basement ceilings, HVAC duct work, garage doors, hot water heaters and crawlspaces. Kouns was well received by the audience and answered questions throughout his presentation from intrigued members of the crowd; nearly all of whom stopped at his display table to gather more information before leaving the event.
“Social networks aren’t about Web sites. They’re about experiences.” – Mike DiLorenzo, NHL social media marketing director.
Innovative Energy is excited to announce that the company can now be found on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. We plan to use these popular channels to make ourselves more available to current customers, as well as to anyone who may be curious about reflective insulation, radiant barriers or insulated packaging in general. Being a leading developer of these products, I.E. can provide solutions and expert advice on the best ways to use them.
“Having a presence on social media is going to allow us to interact with people on a different level,” Carl Kurek, marketing and public relations coordinator for I.E., said. “Our goals are to inform and educate our followers, and to be there with answers when they have questions. But we plan to have a little fun at the same time.”
Followers of I.E.’s social media pages will be able to take advantage of special promotions, offers and contests. They can also stay current on industry-related news, and will be the first to know about new product releases from I.E. This is yet another opportunity for the company to spread awareness of the benefits of using reflective products in building, OEM and packaging applications. With high energy consumption being such a prominent issue facing the U.S. today, I.E. products can help reduce our overall energy use year ‘round in a number of different applications.

Many years ago, Innovative Energy developed a product with a reflective surface on one side and a white finish on the other. It was designed so the white finish faced the interior of a building, and the reflective surface faced up towards the underside of the roof. Although this provided superior insulation and an appealing interior appearance, a reflective surface performs much better when it is facing downward toward the interior of the building. The technology behind Astro-Pearl makes it possible to get the results you need as well as the appealing look you want.
