Innovative Energy employees raise funds for needy family

Innovative Energy donates items to local family in need
Innovative Energy donated needed items to local family coping with financial hardships.

Innovative Energy employees came together last week for the company’s Christmas party, which included a gift exchange, plenty of food and a silent auction. As it was last year, the goal of the silent auction was to raise money for a local family coping with financial hardships.

Everyone from the production workers and office staff to the executive directors and the company’s president took part in the silent auction. Many also donated additional funds after the auction ended. The funds were then used to purchase clothes and other necessary items for the children of the family as well as toys for the younger children. A $100 gift card to a local grocery store was also purchased.

This is the second year that Innovative Energy conducted a fund-raising silent auction as part of its company Christmas party. After last years’ event raised more than $600 to help a struggling local family, it was decided that such efforts should be a part of every Christmas party at Innovative Energy for years to come.

Innovative Energy has called the Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland area home since the company was formed in 1980. Its headquarters have been located in Lowell, Ind. since 1995. From reflective insulation and radiant barriers to temperature-sensitive packaging, the company has been a leader in developing energy-conserving products through reflective technology. Innovative Energy to display astroECO at Metalcon

Metalcon InternationalWe will be displaying astroECO, our leading environmentally-friendly reflective insulation product line, at Metalcon next week so if you’re attending the show be sure to stop by our booth #1508. Joe Dewes, executive director of the Commercial Division, will be on hand to discuss our products and answer any questions. We’ll also be handing out free packets featuring installation guidelines and tips for installing astroECO or AstroShield reflective insulation.

Metalcon International takes place Oct. 9-11 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. We will have all of our building insulation products on display at the show, but astroECO is always the main draw because it is both environmentally-friendly and economically priced.

How Does astroECO Reflective Insulation Work?

astroECO features polyethylene bubble film manufactured from 25 percent recycled material sandwiched between two protective sheets, one or both of which has a metalized aluminum surface. This metalized film blocks 94 percent of radiant heat transfer, dramatically improving thermal performance and energy efficiency while keeping energy costs lower and interior spaces more comfortable. In the summer, astroECO installed in the walls and ceilings of a building will reflect the heat before it can enter. In the winter, astroECO holds the heat in because of the metalized surface’s low emittance.

Radiant heat is one of the three ways that heat is transferred, and it is the primary mode of heat transfer in buildings. It occurs when infrared rays cross air spaces from one surface to another. Whereas mass insulation slows down heat transfer, reflective insulation will stop up to 94 percent of radiant heat transfer, therefore improving overall thermal performance. Other benefits of astroECO reflective insulation products include:

  • Made in the USA
  • Reduced energy consumption and costs
  • Class A/Class 1 flame and smoke rating
  • Thin and lightweight products
  • Easy and safe to install; no special tools or protective clothing required

Reflective insulation is ideal for agricultural buildings

Agricultural building insulation
Reflective insulation makes a great choice for insulating livestock buildings.

Keeping farm animals comfortable with proper insulation is essential to making sure they stay healthy and productive. This is why reflective insulation and radiant barriers make great choices for insulating livestock housing – such as stables, poultry houses, and hog and dairy barns.

Not only will reflective insulation keep farm animals warm in the winter and cool in the summer, it can also improve natural lighting and increase the longevity of your building by reducing building condensation. Reflective products are lightweight, environmentally friendly and non-toxic, making them safe and easy to install.

Already have insulation in your building? Mass insulation material like fiberglass and foam merely slow down the transfer of heat; they do not reflect heat away, nor do they keep it in. Reflective insulation and radiant barriers can be used in combination with other forms of insulation to form a hybrid insulation system. This hybrid system will improve the efficiency of the building envelope since up to 94 percent of radiant heat transfer can be blocked with the addition of a reflective surface.

Innovative Energy launches Arctic Package program for RV manufacturers

This hot box test demonstrates how the addition of R+HEATSHIELD radiant barrier enhances the ability of conventional mass insulation to reduce heat transfer.

Innovative Energy, Inc., an Indiana-based manufacturer of reflective insulation products, recently launched a program to support RV manufacturers who install its R+HEATSHIELD® radiant barrier in their RVs.

Arctic Package® is an example of a hybrid insulation system whereby the performance of conventional mass insulation used in RVs is enhanced by the addition of R+HEATSHIELD® radiant barrier. Innovative Energy plans to establish Arctic Package® as a feature RVers come to recognize as a symbol of energy efficiency and comfort in RVs, while also establishing it as a feature RV manufacturers recognize as marketable. The company will offer educational and promotional materials for manufacturers to pass along to consumers, and it will also conduct various efforts to build brand awareness among the RV community.

Above all, Innovative Energy will help RV manufacturers relay to their customers the benefits of having their RV outfitted with the Arctic Package®. With this program, consumers will understand exactly what they’re getting when they see a RV outfitted with the Arctic Package® – increased thermal protection that is going to help keep them more comfortable in extreme hot and cold climates, and save them money on their heating and cooling costs.

“We’ve already received positive feedback from the RV manufacturers that we’ve presented this program to. As we move forward with the launching of the Arctic Package® program, we expect support from manufactures and consumers to increase,” said Eric Baker, executive director of RV and technical for Innovative Energy.
